I need advice on Spyware!!!!!!?

ok on my computer at the bottom of my start toolbar a blinking icon keeps blinking with a red x looking thing on it... i currently have a antivirus software installed in my computer..my software found the spyware and deleted it. BUT it still keeps blinking and when i click on it, it takes me to a web site and tries to tell me to download a free scan. idk what to do to make it stop blinking??!! Should i take it to my computer technician or can i make it go away my self??please help!thank you....
