Limewire Virus Protection/Antivirus Software?

I added Limewire as an Exception through my Firewall, but wanted to know if an antivirius program would detect any viruses that may come through if I download files? Also what is the best Antivirius program had Trend Micro PC , but trial period ended. Have been looking at The Shield Deluxe and bitdefender, because they offer free customer support, and are supposedly better than McAfee, norton, trend Micro, ETC. any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Yes Antivirus Programs can detect them, but right click and scan on each file downloaded before simply running it.
