How do I prevent pop ups?

I resently downloaded the new internet explorer and no I'm getting a couple of annoying pop ups on the this free antivirus scanning thing and the others are like tommy tuck jeans.. I've been reporting them as phishing sites to microsoft but I don't know if that does anything. Help

First - Pop ups aren't phishing.

Second - If you are running Win XP, you should download Service Pack 2. It has a pop up blocker.

Third - If you are running SP2, download Ad-Aware from www.lavasoft.com (free)

Fourth - If you aren't using a firewall, download Zone Alarm from www.zonelabs.com (free also)

you can get a pop up blocker to stop them like pop up xer is a good one and if that still does not work chand your seatings where then it will block it
You may have adware on your PC. Use these scans to remove it.
